We are the data controller for all personal information processed through Snowball.

We collect and store only the information necessary to provide and improve the Service. This includes the following categories:

a. Account Information (Parents)

• Apple ID (used for sign-in only)

• Parent’s name (if provided)

• Email address (if shared by Apple)

• Subscription and billing details (via Apple In-App Purchases)

• Device and OS information

• App usage data (screen views, sessions, interactions)

• Communication preferences (email and push notifications)

• Consent logs and deletion requests

b. Family & Child Information (entered by the parent)

• Family name (used to identify your family group within the app)

• Child’s first name

• Age and gender

• Personality traits

• Interests and life lessons

• Religion (optional, provided with explicit consent for cultural and moral story context)

• Avatar attributes: skin tone, hair color, hairstyle, eye color, and age group

• Generated story data (chapters, illustrations, and history)

• Family relationships (e.g., parent, grandparent, sibling)

• Optional adult family member details (names, occupations, workplaces)

This information is entered voluntarily by the parent and used only to personalize stories and manage your family profiles within Snowball.

c. Analytics & Performance Data

• Device and session identifiers (non-personal)

• App events (onboarding progress, story creation, button clicks)

• Performance, crash, and engagement metrics

d. Communication Data

• Emails or messages you send to our support team

• Responses to surveys or feedback forms

We do not currently collect photos, voice recordings, or precise location data.

If we introduce these features in the future (for example, to create photo-based avatars or location-aware stories), we will request your explicit consent before collecting or using such data and update this Privacy Policy accordingly.

We use the information you provide to operate, improve, and personalize the Snowball experience. Specifically, we use it to create and manage your account, generate personalized stories, and maintain your family profiles.

We use your data to send transactional emails such as onboarding instructions, subscription updates, or important service notices. We may also send push notifications about new stories or features, which you can disable at any time in your device settings.

We analyze usage and performance data to understand how the app is used, fix bugs, and improve reliability. Some aggregated and anonymized data may be used for internal reporting and product development.

If you contact us for support, we use your communication data to respond to your request and keep records of our correspondence.

We store and process family and avatar information to ensure that each user’s stories remain consistent and personalized over time.

If you choose to provide optional information such as religion, we use it only to tailor the cultural or moral aspects of generated stories, and only with your explicit consent.

We may also process your data to comply with legal obligations, enforce our Terms & Conditions, and prevent misuse of the Service.

We never sell or trade your personal information, and we never use it for advertising or third-party marketing.

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, hosted on AWS servers.

We use encryption, access controls, and secure authentication to protect all data.

Only authorized personnel and service providers can access your data, strictly for operational purposes.

To generate personalized stories, Snowball may send limited and non-sensitive information (such as a child’s first name, age group, personality traits, and interests) to OpenAI or similar AI providers.

These providers process data solely for story generation and do not store or reuse it for any other purpose.

Snowball Interactive Ltd remains the data controller, and OpenAI acts as a data processor under our instructions.

We may use your data to:

• Send transactional emails (onboarding, subscription updates, or account changes)

• Deliver push notifications about new stories or features (optional and can be disabled)

• Collect analytics to improve performance, reliability, and design

All such services act as data processors and may not use or share your data independently.

We share data only with trusted third-party providers that help us deliver the Service:

• Supabase (AWS eu-west-2) – data storage and authentication

• OpenAI – AI story generation

• Apple – authentication and in-app purchases

• Analytics providers – app usage and performance insights

All partners process data on our behalf, in compliance with the UK GDPR, and under signed data processing agreements.

We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide the Service.

When you request account deletion:

• Your request is processed within two (2) working days.

• During this time, your account and data remain securely stored but inaccessible.

• After deletion, all personal data (including child profiles and story data) is permanently removed from active systems and backups within 30 days.

Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access your personal data

• Request correction of inaccurate data

• Request deletion (“right to be forgotten”)

• Object to certain types of processing (e.g., analytics or push notifications)

• Withdraw consent at any time (for religion, push notifications, or communications)

Snowball is designed for parents. Children do not create accounts or use the Service directly.

Information about children is entered by the parent and used only for story personalization.

We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children under 13.

If data is ever transferred outside the UK or EU, it will only be to countries ensuring adequate data protection safeguards.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

If we make material changes, we’ll notify you via email or in-app message.
